We are honored to highlight George DeMartyn, the current President of the Board of Directors for the Historical Society of East Pennsboro, as one of our featured historical guests. George has been a steady and reliable presence in our organization for many years, bringing experience, leadership, and a deep care for the community.
Before stepping into his role with the Historical Society, George served East Pennsboro as a township commissioner for about two decades. His years of public service helped shape the township through times of growth and change, and his thoughtful approach to leadership made him a trusted representative of the people.
George became President of our Board of Directors roughly five years ago, following the retirement of Al Bruner due to health issues. While the board typically works behind the scenes, George has remained actively involved in our day-to-day activities. His hands-on approach, attention to detail, and consistent engagement have been a source of support and direction for our team.
He oversees various committees, appoints members to help lead different initiatives, and is always present to lend his insight. We often say that the board should stay out of our way, but George has never been one to sit back. He is involved in almost everything we do and is never shy about sharing his perspective when needed. That engagement has helped move many of our projects forward and has strengthened our organization as a whole.
Having served the township and now our Historical Society, George DeMartyn continues to lead with patience, persistence, and purpose. His long history with us, stretching back at least to 2003, makes him not just a leader but a vital part of the society’s continued growth and success. We are thankful for his leadership and for the steady hand he has brought to our mission of preserving East Pennsboro’s history.
